The Northern Giant-Petrel is among the largest petrels seen in the world. Only the Southern Giant-Petrel is larger. They are seen throughout all the ocean waters in the southern hemisphere. There is only one known record of the Northern Giant-Petrel being seen inside the perimeters of North America. It was seen off the coast of the state of Washington and is a recognized vagrant.
