The Black-crowned Night-Heron is a nocturnal wading bird. During the daylight hours, they can be found roosting in the marshes or perched on a limb of a tree close to the water's edge. The adults are a bluish-gray with a black cap and trailing head plumes. The juveniles are streaked with brown.
